The Friday, July 5, DUI checkpoint was conducted in the 2600 block of Ingraham Street, and was operational from 11:14 pm, until 3:00 am. 692 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, with 531 of those vehicles being screened by officers. 26 motorists were detained for a further evaluation of their sobriety. 11 arrests were made for DUI in the checkpoint, and 11 vehicles were impounded. Two citations were also issued for open alcohol container violations.
The Saturday, July 6, DUI checkpoint was conducted in the 4200 block of Mission Bay Drive. The AVOID Task Force participated in the checkpoint and was represented by officers from the San Diego Police Department, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Oceanside Police Department, Chula Vista Police Department, National City Police Department, UCSD Police, Alcoholic Beverage Control, and the San Diego County Probation Department
The checkpoint was operational from 11:12 pm, until 3:10 am. 1558 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, with 837 of those vehicles being screened by officers. Of those, 32 motorists were detained for a further evaluation of their sobriety. 19 arrests were made for DUI in or near the checkpoint, and 17 vehicle impounds were conducted. One citation was also issued for an open alcohol container violation.
