To try to stem drunken driving, Escondido police put a checkpoint at 700 W. Grand Ave. from 6:30 p.m. Friday to 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Police arrested three drivers for DUI.
They also made arrests for auto theft, outstanding DUI warrants, and being under the influence of drugs and possessing drug paraphernalia.
